How Sankalpa and Vedic Astrology Guide My Year
The new year often brings resolutions—bold declarations of what we want to achieve. But how many of those resolutions truly align with who we are at our core? How often do they fizzle out because they’re rooted in external expectations rather than inner truth?
When I discovered Tantra, I learned the art of setting a sankalpa, a heartfelt intention that arises from within. Unlike resolutions, which focus on doing, a sankalpa focuses on being. It invites us to align our actions with our soul’s purpose, creating lasting transformation.
This practice naturally connected with my exploration of Vedic Astrology. Just as a sankalpa requires tuning into your inner truth, Vedic Astrology offers a cosmic roadmap to understand the energies shaping your life. Together, these tools help me align with purpose, intention, and action.
Finding My Sankalpa
I remember the first time I sat down to set a sankalpa. It wasn’t about achieving a specific goal—it was about uncovering a deeper desire. I asked myself, What do I truly want to embody this year? Not what others expected of me, but what my heart and soul were yearning for.
The answer surprised me. It wasn’t about career success or physical transformation. It was about presence. I realized I wanted to be more grounded, more connected to the moment. My sankalpa became a guiding light, shaping how I approached each day.
This year, as I reflected on my sankalpa, I turned to my Vedic chart for guidance. The planets and their transits offered clarity about the energies influencing me and the opportunities ahead. It was like sitting down with a wise teacher who reminded me of my strengths and pointed out where I might grow.
Sankalpa and the Stars
While Western resolutions often focus on the surface, Vedic Astrology dives deep into the layers of who we are. It reveals our dharma (purpose), karmic patterns, and the cycles we’re moving through. Setting a sankalpa in alignment with these cosmic rhythms makes the practice even more powerful.
For example, if your chart shows a strong influence of Saturn this year, your sankalpa might reflect themes of discipline, responsibility, or long-term growth. If Jupiter is prominent, it might focus on expansion, wisdom, or spiritual growth. The beauty of Vedic Astrology is that it helps you see what energies are naturally supporting you, so you can set intentions that flow with the universe rather than against it.
Setting Your Sankalpa
As you step into the new year, I invite you to explore this practice. Instead of setting a resolution that feels like a chore, take a moment to listen to your inner voice. What do you want to embody this year? How do you want to show up in your life?
For me, my sankalpa is rooted in connection. This year, I aim to deepen my relationships—with myself, my loved ones, and the world around me. It’s not about perfection; it’s about intention. And with the wisdom of the stars as my guide, I feel more aligned than ever.
Today’s Thought Exercises:
- What is Your Sankalpa? Reflect on what you want to embody this year. Share your sankalpa in the comments. What does it mean to you, and how does it inspire you?
- Look to the Stars: If you’re familiar with your Vedic chart, consider how your sankalpa aligns with the planetary influences in your life this year. If you’re not, share what energy you feel naturally drawn to embody.

Special Invitation: Each month, I’ll be hosting Full Moon and New Moon Ceremonies at my home, The Kundalini Kastle. These gatherings are a chance for our community to come together, learn, grow, and connect. Through a blend of Tantric Wisdom, Vedic Teachings, and modern practices, we’ll explore our shadows, embrace our strengths, release what no longer serves us, and invite in new energies.
I warmly invite you to join us on this journey of transformation. Let’s create sacred space together, deepen our understanding, and support one another as we align with the rhythms of the cosmos.
