Tantra has taught me many things, but one lesson I return to often is this: nothing stays the same. Everything is in motion. Just like the Moon.
This week, as we tune into the cyclical nature of the lunar phases, I find myself reflecting on how emotions, too, have their own tides. They rise, crest, and fall away. They darken. They brighten. They pull us inward and invite us outward again. And in both Vedic Astrology and Tantra, these rhythms aren’t distractions—they’re sacred guides.
The Moon as Mirror
In Vedic Astrology, the Moon isn’t just a celestial body—it’s the reflection of our inner world. It governs the Manas, or mind, but not the logical mind. The emotional one. The one that dreams and remembers. The one that aches and loves.
Every phase of the Moon invites a different kind of emotional awareness:
- New Moon – A quiet womb of potential, a time for inner listening.
- Waxing Moon – Growth and clarity, forward movement.
- Full Moon – Emotional illumination, peak expression.
- Waning Moon – Release, integration, letting go.
Can you feel those phases within yourself? I certainly can.
There have been times I’ve tried to push forward during an internal New Moon—and burned out. And there have been times I’ve ignored my Full Moon heart, trying to stay small when everything in me wanted to shine.
Tantra and Emotional Timing
Tantric practice encourages presence—not just to sensation, but to timing. We learn to feel the cycles of our own energy. We honor them. We ride them, like a wave instead of fighting the current.
Each lunar phase can correspond with a Tantric practice:
- New Moon – Meditation and journaling
- Waxing Moon – Tantric breathwork and self-inquiry
- Full Moon – Ritual, expression, sacred sexuality
- Waning Moon – Restorative yoga, grief work, silence
This has become one of my sacred rhythms: matching my inner work to the Moon’s invitation.
Honoring Where You Are
You don’t have to be in a state of expansion all the time. Sometimes the most sacred thing you can do is rest. Sometimes the most healing choice is to feel what’s been buried.
We weren’t meant to be constant.
We were meant to be lunar.
So this week, I ask you:
Where are you in your emotional cycle?
What is your Moon asking of you?
Today’s Thought Exercise
Which lunar phase best reflects where you’re at emotionally this week?
What can you do to honor that phase with love, presence, or ritual?
Drop a comment and let us know.
You belong to the rhythm of the cosmos. Let’s honor it—together.
